We are all individuals with different taste and style. No two projects are ever the same. The beauty of offering a bespoke upholstery service is that I listen to what you want and tailor the project accordingly.

I use natural and sustainable materials wherever possible. This reduces waste and pollution as I strive for my business to be carbon neutral.

Welcome to Sarah E Shephard, a bespoke upholstery business based in Helensburgh serving the West of Scotland, with over 25 years experience in furniture and related crafts.

Sarah is an upholsterer with an eye for detail and a flair for style. She started her career at Winchester School of Art before gaining a First in Three Dimensional Design at Newcastle Polytechnic. After working for furniture makers Stephen Down and Alexander Ward her career then took her to classic boat restoration. Aside from this Sarah has illustrated 7 books published by Royal Yacting Association.

Working in collaboration with wood-worker Gareth Wilson, Sarah established Design in Harmony in 2016 and this led her to take up the tack hammer. In 2018 she started the AMUSF Diploma at the Upholstery Craft Training Centre in Stirling, finishing Stage One with Distinction. Sarah is nearing completion of the final stage (Stage 3), dividing her time between diploma and commercial work.
